Why do we have this campaign? Because motorcycle injuries and fatalities are on the rise and this must stop! Motorcycles are often “invisible” on our roadways. They are difficult to see because of the vertical structure of a motorcycle, and because many riders do not wear high-visibility gear. IDOT is dedicated to ensuring that all motorists are aware of the need to share the roadways. Through our trainings, our educational materials and outreach efforts, we are trying to reach Illinois citizens with the important message of sharing the road and to start seeing motorcycles!

Everyone is responsible for driving safely. Crashes can occur in an instant and we all must slow down and pay attention to our surroundings. This means putting your cell phones away when driving/riding and paying attention to traffic, weather conditions and construction.

With everyone doing their part, we can make travel on our roadways safe. Take the time to drive responsibly—it could save your life!

Slow Down. Be Aware. Look Twice.
Start Seeing Motorcycles!
